About Us

The New Jersey, USA Branch of Dakshineswar Ramkrishna Sangha Adyapeath (Adyapeath, USA) was established in 1995. This branch extends the vision and ideas of Dakshineswar Ramkrishna Sangha Adyapeath, Kolkata, India (Adyapeath) to the residents of United States of America.

This is how it all started…

In 1994, the General Secretary of Adyapeath, Brahmachari Mural Bhai, came to USA for the first time to spread the blessings of Adya Ma, and talk about its founder, Sree Sree Annada Thakur. During the summer of 1996, he visited New Jersey again. This time he was accompanied by the President of the organization, Brahmachari Siddheswar Bhai (who has since been deceased). They were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of devotees of Adya Ma. Later that year, Adyapeath approved the formation of its first international branch to be located in New Jersey, USA. On December 7th, 1996, Adyapeath, USA was formed at the temporary address of 296 Savoy Ave, Edison, NJ with twelve members.

That was the beginning…

In August 1998, the members, about 30 families, took the bold step to rent an apartment house at 1219 Green Street, Iselin, NJ. This became the first public place of worship in the United States for Adya Ma.

That was a monumental step forward…

In a short one year, Adyapeath, USA’s membership grew to over 100. In 1999, Adyapeath, USA celebrated Kali Puja with Brahmachari Subrata Bhai from Adyapeath, Kolkata. The idol was built from scratch by Brahmachari Subrata Bhai himself. The following year (2000), Br. Subrata Bhai performed the Jagaddhatri puja for the first time and again the idol was built by Br. Subrata Bhai. Adyapeath, USA has been staging the Kali and Jagaddhatri Pujas ever since, with attendance increasing every successive year.

In January 2002, Adyapeath, USA acquired a one acre property in Franklin Township, NJ; establishing a priest house and a prayer hall. The goal of Adyapeath, USA is to spread the word of Adya Ma to every corner of the world and bring joy and peace to all. The inauguration of DRSA, USA, in its present home, was held on Ram Nabami Day, which is no coincidence for an organization that was founded in Kolkata on the same day almost a century ago.

Adyapeath, USA was granted the status of non-profit organization, under the statutes of Section 501(c)(3) by the IRS during the early stages of its inception. Following that, Adyapeath, USA was incorporated as a religious organization in New Jersey.

Adyapeath, USA is currently seeking donations to acquire a larger property and build a bigger Mandir (temple) for Adya Ma.

This is our dream — this would be our future for our next generation…
